The pheasant and partridge shooting season has drawn to a close, so now is the time to get down to your local butcher or supermarket and try wonderful game while it is still in season - the season doesn’t get going again until September! This recipe for Red pheasant curryis just the ticket for warming you up in chilly February.

2. Valentine's Day

Get in the mood for love this Valentine’s Day by cooking a romantic meal for your loved one. Light the candles, put on some slow tempo music, open the wine and serve something simple but tasty such as sautéed partridge breast with rosemary and apples which can be cooked in a flash, or a bowl of this delicious venison pastato share.

Simply halve the quantities for dinner à deux and instant brownie points!

And if you really want to be clever, why not make a dish created by namesake Valentine Warner! We are convinced his Partridge on grilled bread with mushrooms and brandy will be a decadent hit.
