4. Seasonal ingredient of the month

|
The first plums are now in season and are utterly delicious! There are more than 300 varieties grown in Britain and they come in all shapes and colours from yellows to deep reds and purples. Damsons and greengages are also types of plum.
Plums are a good source of potassium, fibre and vitamins A and C. They are rich in antioxidants and also contain the amino acid tryptophan.
Try pairing with venison in this recipe for Spiced Plum and Venison Salad. The sweet and sour poached plums match beautifully with the rich meat. Perfect for late summer entertaining.
